Elevated Toad Bridge over Forest Road
Detailed Description
View of the underside of an elevated road segment constructed for the threatened Yosemite toad. Yosemite toads migrate from upland habitat to lowland meadows and other wetland habitats during the breeding season. In some cases, their migration routes intersect with highways, where toads are run over by vehicles. USGS biologists are determining whether elevated road segments can provide shelter for migrating toads and safe passage for vehicles.
