Gary Fuis using a foam rubber model to demonstrate, what happens to the Earth’s crust in the Los Angeles region when it is squeezed by plate-tectonic stresses at a Science Exposition in San Francisco. The display is called “Come Squeeze LA”. The gray block in the center (San Gabriel Mountains) moves sideways and upward along the San Andreas fault, modeled by a sheet of teflon, when squeezed
