Groundwater-Storage Depletion and Water-Table Elevations Long Island

Detailed Description
Groundwater-Storage Depletion and Water-Table Elevations on Long Island, New York: The figure above illustrates how changes in the elevation of the water table on Long Island, NY can affect the amount of water entering surface-water bodies. Changes in the water-table elevation are particularly important in areas where the depth to water is small. Small declines in the water-table elevation (greater depth to water) beneath lakes, streams, and wetlands on Long Island can significantly alter the amount of groundwater discharged to these surface-water features.
