Hawaii Volcanoes - solidified lava flows blocking the end of the road

Detailed Description

Solidified lava flows block the road at the end of Chain of Craters Road. Beginning with eruptions in 1983 at the Pu'u'O'o Crater on the East Rift Zone, a series of lava flows crossed the road and flowed in the sea. The eruption has been ongoing since then, although flows that reach the ocean have been intermittent.
