Keys View (Coachella Valley with San Jacinto Peak)

Detailed Description

Keys View (elevation 5185 feet above sea level) is an overlook in the Little San Bernardino Mountains. This view is looking southwest toward Mt. San Jacinto across the Coachella Valley. The dark linear ridge in the center of the valley is a shutter ridge along the San Andreas Fault. San Jacinto Peak (elevation 10,804 feet) is adjacent to the town of Palm Springs (elevation 150 feet). The elevation difference between the valley and the mountain peak is one of the steepest, greatest spans of vertical relief on a mountain front in the United States.
