Lake Mead - creosote bush

Detailed Description

This creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) is a common plant in the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts (USDA, [2010c]). The two ecosystems come together in the vicinity of southern Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This plant is on the shore of Lake Mead at Katherine Landing near Princess Cove. The Newberry Mountains of Nevada are in the distance with Spirit Mountain being the highest point (5,639 feet; 1,719 meters).
