Lake Mead - Grapevine Canyon Wash
Detailed Description
This view is looking up Grapevine Canyon Wash located northwest of Laughlin, Nevada in southern Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Basaltic dikes and stocks are more resistant to erosion than the surrounding older granite. They form the darker, wall-like ridges, spires, and boulder piles that stand above the surrounding lighter-colored weathered granite and soil.
