Post-Fire Winter Time Lapse in Whiskeytown NRA (Whiskeytown Falls)

This GIF was compiled from trail camera images taken over the course of winter 2018-2019 in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.

The trail cameras were set up as part of a study of post-fire recovery after the 2018 Carr Fire. The first winter after a California wildfire can bring dramatic changes. Rain brings new growth, but it can also lead to flooding, mudslides, and debris flows, since there is little plant material left to help hold the soil together or intercept materials flowing downhill.
