Recording Pre-Restoration Conditions

Detailed Description

Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center scientists have been working with the University of Georgia and NOAA restoration staff to record pre-restoration conditions at an impounded wetland in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Sediment cores have been collected to determine carbon accretion rates and reconstruction of ecosystem transitions due to shifts in flooding conditions and water salinity. Greenhouse gas fluxes have been measured and water level and salinity are recorded by sensors.
