REST Compliant API Diagram

A Representational State Transfer (REST) compliant API (application programming interface) provides an access point for users of any programming language to submit specific requests and instantly receive answering data using a universally agreed formats while maintaining the security of the underlying databases.

For the Total Water Level and Coastal Change Forecast, a user submitting a REST based HTTP Get request to the TWL API for data specific to a particular dune and forecast instantly receives the data back in the universally accepted JSON format without the challenges of having to interact directly with the underlying database.
