Road Pass for Amphibians, Other Small Fauna
Detailed Description
The U.S. Forest Service and Caltrans cooperated to build a bridge for passing vehicles on a forest road. The area is home to the rare Yosemite toad (Anaxyrus canorus), which has habitat on either side of the road. USGS scientists are monitoring the project to determine whether the bridge will efficiently serve its dual purposes: letting vehicles pass overhead safely, and providing space for toads to hop from one side of the road to the other without encountering a vehicle.
