Photo of San Fernando Veterans Administration Hospital in Sylmar from the publication, “Engineering Aspects of the 1971 San Fernando Earthquake,” published by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Bureau of Standards in December 1971. The hospital's roof collapsed and the shaking caused damage to the vertical pillars at the corners of the building.
