Sediment Core Sampling
Detailed Description
Sarah Kwon (contractor at USGS in St. Pete) sampling a sediment core from Lago Enriquillo, Dominican Republic. These cores were collected earlier this year for a project led by Julie Richey and Jess Rodysill studying hydroclimates of the past. Determining the natural baseline variability of floods and droughts can assist resource mangagers, improve computer models, and improve natural disaster mitigation.
