Semi-desert grasslands of the Altar Valley in south-central Arizona, which is the habiatat of the Pima pineapple cactus. Nonnative lovegrass dominates the landscape and small mesquite trees have expanded into the grassland. The Baboquivari Mountains are in the background (November 2014).
