Sparrows of the Bird Banding Lab's Fall Migration Station

Detailed Description
The sparrows pictured here represent the main sparrow species the EESC Bird Banding Lab’s Fall Migration Station sees each year. And last year, the White-throated Sparrow was the most numerous species banded at the station. While sparrows aren’t as flashy as some of the other species at the station, close-up in the hand, one can really appreciate the strokes of brown, red, black, and white on these little birds. These seed-eaters take advantage of the maintained area under transmission powerlines on Patuxent Research Refuge during their migration.
