USGS scientists surgically implanting acoustic transmitters into juvenile Chinook salmon on the Shasta River, California. Study fish are tracked in the Shasta and Klamath Rivers as they migrate to the Pacific Ocean. Collected data are used to determine fish survival and migration behaviors.
