Detailed Description

This image shows USGS staff disembarking from boats parked at a sandbar on the Colorado River. The image has been used as the cover photograph for Open-File Report 2010-1032, "2008 High-Flow Experiment at Glen Canyon Dam—Morphologic Response of Eddy-Deposited Sandbars and Associated Aquatic Backwater Habitats along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park."

The image has been cropped. It was taken by a USGS cooperator on a USGS research trip.
