Waterborne Geophysics - Long Island
Detailed Description
Waterborne Geophysics - A typical marine seismic-reflection section shows the location and thickness of clay deposits, sand units, and bedrock beneath Manhasset Bay. A glacial buried valley is shown infilled by sub-horizontal reflectors indicative of clay and silt deposits. These buried valleys cross cut the normal hydrogeologic framework on Long Island and are important in understanding the groundwater flow system.
