Detailed Description

Study area: Map of the study area off West Maui; land in shades of gray, sea floor in shades ranging from brick-red (shallowest) to dark blue (deepest). Green dots are sites of USGS instrument packages. The drifters were deployed nightly off Honokawai, just above the instrument sites. Numbered yellow lines are transects along which data were collected from the Alyce C.
