Detailed Description

This video was generated during studies of fish interactions with small pump screens that operate at about 130 gallons per minute. Tests were conducted at the Western Fisheries Research Center, Columbia River Research Laboratory, in collaboration with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Three examples are presented, each with a short video clip from the testing. Examples include a group of juvenile salmon interacting with an unscreened water withdrawal pipe, one larval lamprey interacting with a foot valve, which is a rounded metal covering over the end of the pipe with small diameter holes in it, and one larval lamprey interacting with a Pump-Rite screen.
