Monitoring Suspended Sediment and Flow along the Mississippi River: Episode 1

In this video segment, Physical Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Lower Mississippi Gulf Water Science Center (LMGWSC) give an overview of USGS monitoring efforts along the Lower Mississippi River. General sampling logistics and monitoring frequencies are also shown. Summaries are given of data collection efforts on the lower Mississippi River and how the USGS utilizes large river work boats to collect data using heavy water samplers. Best practices for large riverboat sampling safety are also explained in detail during this episode.
