The development of a Geologic Hazards Program for the USDA Forest Service is a challenging undertaking. Understanding how the USDA Forest Service is organized, what geologic hazards we face, and how our physical, political, and staffing landscapes have and may change over time is part of knowing who, where, why, and how to focus energy in developing a robust geologic hazards program. Once those challenges and the working environment are better understood, then it is a multi-pronged approach to address our options to address our significant geologic hazard hazards and risks throughout our National Forests and Grasslands.
