Detailed Description

Strike-slip faults are vertical (or nearly vertical) fractures where the blocks have mostly moved horizontally. If the block opposite an observer looking across the fault moves to the right, the slip style is termed right-lateral; if the block moves to the left, the motion is termed left-lateral.

The video is a simple animation showing a cross section of the earth with a road, grass, and a tree at the surface. There is a near-vertical fracture in the middle of the cross section. The right side of the cross section moves horizontally, offsetting the road and grass.
