Climate Adaptation Technical Services (CATS): Rapid Science Delivery
USGS Friday's Findings Webinar - January 23, 2026
Title: Climate Adaptation Technical Services (CATS): The first year of rapid science delivery
Date: January 23, 2026, at 2:00-2:30 pm Eastern/11:00 -11:30 am Pacific
Join us on Friday, January 23, 2026, to learn about the capabilities and first year of successes of a USGS Climate Adaptation Science Center (CASC) pilot program. The Climate Adaptation Technical Services (CATS) program is designed to respond to management needs related to climate adaptation. CATS provides partners with tailored climate adaptation science, advice, and training to support rapid integration of climate information into planning and decision making. The CATS team will highlight their strategic development and approach, and provide an overview of their first-year efforts. They'll discuss partner engagement and project outcomes, including:
- The development of summarized projected fire danger metrics for fire planning in Alaska
- A hydrological futures portal, and
- A synthesis examining the co-location of artificial intelligence data centers and energy infrastructure on federal lands.
Together, these projects illustrate the ability to rapidly deliver decision-relevant science across diverse topics and management contexts.
