Public Advisory: USGS and UNR to Present Results of the Snake Valley Water-Resource Study in June

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Are you interested in learning more about the groundwater and surface water systems of Snake Valley in eastern Nevada? Please join scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey and University of Nevada, Reno at one of two public presentations in Baker and Ely.

What:

The USGS and UNR presentation will summarize results of a recently completed 4-year study of groundwater and surface water in Snake Valley and adjacent Snake Range. Three important study components will be highlighted in the presentation; stream interactions with groundwater along three creeks that drain the east side of the Snake Range in and adjacent to Great Basin National Park, evidence for inter-basin groundwater flow from Spring Valley to Snake Valley around the south end of the Snake Range, and water-yield estimates for the southern Snake Range.

A full presentation will be given at the Great Basin National Park visitor center in Baker, and a shorter summary will be presented at the Central Nevada Regional Water Authority meeting in Ely.
