Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

An Updated Vs30 Map for California with Geologic and Topographic Constraints An Updated Vs30 Map for California with Geologic and Topographic Constraints

This data release provides a map of the time-averaged shear-wave velocity in the upper 30 m (Vs30) for California using the method described by Thompson and others (2014). There are two adjustments to the algorithm described by Thompson and others (2014), which is built on the geology-based Vs30 map by Wills and Clahan (2006). In this data release, we use the Wills and others (2015)...

Indicators of Hydrologic Alteration in North Carolina Catchments: Small Ponds and Artificial Drainage Indicators of Hydrologic Alteration in North Carolina Catchments: Small Ponds and Artificial Drainage

Alterations to stream hydrology, which include changes in stream geomorphology, are primary impacts of anthropogenic disruption. In North Carolina, hydrological alterations lead to environmental impacts through degraded ecosystems and water quality. In collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Mitigation Services (DMS), the USGS South Atlantic...

Analytical and diagnostic validation of a molecular test to detect and discriminate IHNV genogroups U and M Analytical and diagnostic validation of a molecular test to detect and discriminate IHNV genogroups U and M

Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) is an acute pathogen of salmonids in North America, Europe and Asia that is phylogenetically classified into five major virus genogroups (U, M, L, E and J). The geographic range of the U and M genogroup isolates overlap in the North American Columbia River Basin and Washington Coast region, where these genogroups pose different risks...

Reestablishing a foundational species: limitations on post-wildfire sagebrush seedling establishment Reestablishing a foundational species: limitations on post-wildfire sagebrush seedling establishment

This dataset contains observations used to better understand the initial establishment of sagebrush (Artemisia sp.), in the first 1-2 years post-wildfire. Field data come from 460 sagebrush populations sampled across the Great Basin and many GIS-derived co-variates are included as well.

Mercury Condition Index Tool Mercury Condition Index Tool

The Mercury Condition Index Tool uses existing data of mercury concentrations in invertebrates, fish, and birds within national parks to estimate a park level Condition Index (and associated uncertainty) for mercury, based on its potential risk to fish and wildlife health. The tool employs a series of logic steps to convert provided data into standardized units, based upon both basic
