Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Geochemical Data for Bulk Samples and Their Derivative Size and Density Fractions from Placer Tailings in Alaska Geochemical Data for Bulk Samples and Their Derivative Size and Density Fractions from Placer Tailings in Alaska
This data release contains elemental concentration data from geochemical analysis of eight bulk placer tailing sediment samples and of size and density fractions derived from those eight samples. All placer tailing material collected for this data release originated from samples that were collected in Alaska. The samples collected from one fifth yard of tailings material, sieved to -1/4...
Buff-breasted Sandpiper surveys during northward migration in Texas (2016) Buff-breasted Sandpiper surveys during northward migration in Texas (2016)
These data were collected using distance sampling methods (point counts) and visual assessment of land cover and habitat along pre-determined driving routes in Texas during April and May 2016.
Two-stage models improve machine learning classifiers in wildlife research: A case study in identifying false positive detections of Ruffed Grouse Two-stage models improve machine learning classifiers in wildlife research: A case study in identifying false positive detections of Ruffed Grouse
Autonomous recording units are increasingly being used to monitor wildlife on large geographic and temporal scales, paired with machine learning (ML) to automate detection of wildlife. However, false positive detections from ML classifiers can result in erroneous ecological models that can lead to misguided management and conservation actions. We used a two-stage general approach to...
Great Lakes-Wide Dataset of Historical Coregonine Stocking Events Great Lakes-Wide Dataset of Historical Coregonine Stocking Events
This dataset is the result of coordinated efforts to compile data associated with stocking events for whitefishes and ciscoes (members of the Coregoninae subfamily) of Great Lakes origin. The dataset includes more than 4,700 records associated with coregonine stocking, from over 150 information sources, spanning the years 1870 - 2022. The compiled information includes species, quantities...
U-Pb Ages, Neodymium Isotope Ratios, and Trace Element Concentrations by Laser-Ablation Split Stream (LASS) Analysis of Igneous Titanite and Apatite from Interior and Southcentral Alaska U-Pb Ages, Neodymium Isotope Ratios, and Trace Element Concentrations by Laser-Ablation Split Stream (LASS) Analysis of Igneous Titanite and Apatite from Interior and Southcentral Alaska
This dataset contains U-Pb isotopic data and ages plus trace element concentrations from titanite and apatite in igneous rocks collected for USGS projects in the Alaska Range, Yukon Tanana uplands of eastern Alaska, and a study of ophiolites in Alaska. A subset of analyses also includes simultaneous measurements of Sm-Nd isotope ratios. For this subset, split-stream configuration...
Argon dates, paleomagnetic directions, and compositions of Pliocene to Pleistocene mafic volcanic rocks in the Goat Rocks area, Cascade Range, Washington State Argon dates, paleomagnetic directions, and compositions of Pliocene to Pleistocene mafic volcanic rocks in the Goat Rocks area, Cascade Range, Washington State
The Goat Rocks volcanic cluster is a major andesitic locus in the southern Washington Cascade Range that persisted for approximately 3 million years (3.1 Ma to 115 ka) while coeval mafic volcanoes erupted on its periphery (Wall et al., 2018; Wall, 2022). The datasets presented in this data release were collected for a study that focuses on the mantle origin of the mafic magmas and their...
