Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Radiocarbon ages, whole-rock chemistry, and electron probe microanalysis of lavas (1877, 1832, 1823, Kealaalea Hills, and Keanakākoʻi Tephra periods) from Kīlauea's summit and Southwest Rift Zone, Island of Hawaiʻi Radiocarbon ages, whole-rock chemistry, and electron probe microanalysis of lavas (1877, 1832, 1823, Kealaalea Hills, and Keanakākoʻi Tephra periods) from Kīlauea's summit and Southwest Rift Zone, Island of Hawaiʻi
This dataset includes radiocarbon ages, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WD-XRF) major-oxide and trace-element whole-rock analyses, and glass, olivine, and pyroxene analyses by electron microprobe (EPMA) of spatter and lava samples from the summit and Southwest Rift Zone of Kīlauea volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi. All of the radiocarbon ages were analyzed by DirectAMS in Bothell...
High-resolution seismic data acquired at two seismic recording stations (BK.LIND and BK.KARE) in San Joaquin Valley, California High-resolution seismic data acquired at two seismic recording stations (BK.LIND and BK.KARE) in San Joaquin Valley, California
In November of 2021, the U.S. Geological Survey acquired high-resolution P- and S-wave seismic data at two seismic recording stations in Tulare and Fresno counties, California: Berkeley Digital Seismic Network BK.LIND and BK.KARE. We deployed 60 DTCC SmartSolo 3-component nodal seismometers (“nodes”) at 2-m intervals along a linear array at each seismic recording station. The nodes...
Protein Phosphatase 2A screening of extracted sediments for samples collected for the Sediment-Bound Contaminant Resiliency and Response Strategy pilot study, northeastern United States, 2015 Protein Phosphatase 2A screening of extracted sediments for samples collected for the Sediment-Bound Contaminant Resiliency and Response Strategy pilot study, northeastern United States, 2015
Coastal communities are uniquely vulnerable to sea-level rise and severe storms such as hurricanes. These events enhance the dispersion and concentration of natural and anthropogenic chemicals and pathogenic microorganisms that could adversely affect the health and resilience of coastal communities and ecosystems in subsequent years. The U.S. Geological Survey has developed the Sediment...
Phytoplankton data for Kansas lakes and reservoirs, August 2020 through August 2022 Phytoplankton data for Kansas lakes and reservoirs, August 2020 through August 2022
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release includes phytoplankton data collected from four reservoirs in Kansas, during August 2020 through August 2022. All data are reported as raw calculated values and are not rounded to USGS significant figures. The dataset includes all routine and quality assurance/quality control samples collected at twenty-five locations within Marion...
High resolution fractional tree cover and change over time for Olympic, Mount Rainier, and Glacier National Parks High resolution fractional tree cover and change over time for Olympic, Mount Rainier, and Glacier National Parks
High resolution fractional tree cover and change over time for Olympic, Mount Rainier, and Glacier National Parks from the mid-1980s to the mid-2020s. Date of annual snapshots of tree cover and the temporal range of change over time in tree cover vary by location. See metadata files associated with individual parks for specific details.
