Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Modeled daily salinity derived from multiple machine learning methodologies and generalized additive models for three salinity monitoring sites in Mobile Bay, northern Gulf of Mexico, 1980–2021 Modeled daily salinity derived from multiple machine learning methodologies and generalized additive models for three salinity monitoring sites in Mobile Bay, northern Gulf of Mexico, 1980–2021

Results from generalized additive models (GAM), random forest models (RFM), and cubist models (CUB) for three Dauphin Island Sealab (DIS) operated salinity sites in Mobile Bay are reported in this data release. These sites included Meaher Park (DIS:MHPA1), Middle Bay Lighthouse (DIS:MBLA1), and Dauphin Island (DIS:DPIA1). The constructed models predicted a 42-year daily salinity record...

Frequency characteristics of soil moisture, evapotranspiration, and climatic water deficit for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi, for a set of rainfall and land-cover conditions Frequency characteristics of soil moisture, evapotranspiration, and climatic water deficit for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi, for a set of rainfall and land-cover conditions

These shapefiles represent the frequency characteristics of soil moisture, evapotranspiration, and climatic water deficit for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi for a set of water-budget scenarios that characterize unique combinations of rainfall and land-cover conditions. Four water-budget scenarios were developed to quantify the effects of drought on soil moisture...

Mean annual groundwater recharge rates for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi, for a set of drought and land-cover conditions Mean annual groundwater recharge rates for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi, for a set of drought and land-cover conditions

These shapefiles represent the spatial distribution of mean annual groundwater recharge, in inches, for Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Maui, and the Island of Hawaiʻi for a set of water-budget scenarios that characterize unique combinations of drought and land-cover conditions. Two water-budget scenarios were developed to quantify the effects of severe drought and future climate conditions on...

Delaware River Basin depth to bedrock observations, model predictions, and explanatory variables Delaware River Basin depth to bedrock observations, model predictions, and explanatory variables

This data release contains model inputs, R code, and model outputs for predicting depth to bedrock in the Delaware River Basin at a 1km gridded resolution with a random forest model. Model inputs are provided in a comma-separated value (csv) file. The training data used in this study of 72,773 point observations of depth to bedrock (DTB) within the Delaware River Basin (DRB) that was...

GIWW (Gulf Intracoastal Waterway) to Clovelly Hydrologic Restoration (BA-02): 2018 land-water classification GIWW (Gulf Intracoastal Waterway) to Clovelly Hydrologic Restoration (BA-02): 2018 land-water classification

The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to...

Western Lake Erie Restoration Assessment: Dikes Western Lake Erie Restoration Assessment: Dikes

The US Geological Survey (USGS) created the Dikes dataset as ancillary layer in the Western Lake Erie Restoration Assessment (WLERA) which covers the southwestern shore of Lake Erie. WLERA is a part of the USGS's Great Lakes Coastal Wetland Restoration Assessment (GLCWRA) initiative where coastal areas around the Great Lakes are identified and ranked for potential wetland restoration...
