Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Forest canopy gap dynamics: quantifying forest gaps and understanding gap – level forest regeneration in Upper Mississippi River floodplain forests Forest canopy gap dynamics: quantifying forest gaps and understanding gap – level forest regeneration in Upper Mississippi River floodplain forests
Forest canopy gap metrics for select floodplain forest canopy gaps in the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS).
Locations of Change in Aquatic Vegetation Cover along the Illinois Waterway from 2019 - 2021 Locations of Change in Aquatic Vegetation Cover along the Illinois Waterway from 2019 - 2021
Over the summer of 2020, the Illinois Waterway (IWW) was closed to complete maintenance on lock chambers along the Illinois River. This closure restricted vessel traffic along the river and potentially changed habitat characteristics for aquatic vegetation establishment and growth. To assess if patterns of vegetation establishment and growth changed during the closure, peak biomass...
Python-based Subaerial Barrier Sediment Partitioning (pySBSP) model (ver. 1.0, February 2024) Python-based Subaerial Barrier Sediment Partitioning (pySBSP) model (ver. 1.0, February 2024)
The Python-based Subaerial Barrier Sediment Partitioning (pySBSP) model is a framework to simulate the morphological development of an idealized barrier coast in the cross-shore domain. It is based off the original framework of the same name, which is coded in in MATLAB. pySBSP consists of two scripts; one includes a basic graphical user interface (GUI) to simplify parameter input, while...
Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) natural color, multispectral, lidar, and hyperspectral remote sensing data products collected at dryland sites 40 km south of Moab, Utah in May 2023 Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) natural color, multispectral, lidar, and hyperspectral remote sensing data products collected at dryland sites 40 km south of Moab, Utah in May 2023
In support of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Southwest Biological Science Center researchers, and in coordination with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), the USGS National Uncrewed Systems Office (NUSO) conducted uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) remote sensing flights over two BLM Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (AIM) plots at the...
Seepage Meter Data Collected at Crystal Lake, City of Crystal Lake, Illinois, 2020 Seepage Meter Data Collected at Crystal Lake, City of Crystal Lake, Illinois, 2020
Seepage meters measurements were collected at three locations along the northern shoreline and at three locations along the southern shoreline of Crystal Lake, located in the City of Crystal Lake, Illinois on October 28-30, 2020, and November 4-5, 2020. Seepage measurements directly measure the flux for the area captured by the seepage meter. A positive (gaining) flux is assumed when the...
Quality assurance of water levels in the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer in Louisiana from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System (SONRIS) Quality assurance of water levels in the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer in Louisiana from the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' Strategic Online Natural Resources Information System (SONRIS)
This data release provides several data files representing groundwater levels reported through driller's reports for the State of Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, 2023) within or near the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) and (or) associated with the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA). First, a retrieval of data from the...
