The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Model code to build and run an integrated population model for the endangered Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow Model code to build and run an integrated population model for the endangered Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow

The Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow (CSSS; Ammospiza maritima mirabilis) is an endangered species that has experienced population declines of more than 60% since the 1990s. The CSSS is restricted in geographic extent to a relatively small area of remaining marl prairie in the southern Florida Everglades and remains in six subpopulation areas (named A-F). There has been over two decades of...

Estimates of Baseflow, Runoff, and Groundwater Recharge Based on Streamflow-Hydrograph Methods: Pennsylvania Estimates of Baseflow, Runoff, and Groundwater Recharge Based on Streamflow-Hydrograph Methods: Pennsylvania

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Geological Survey, estimated groundwater recharge by automated streamflow-hydrograph methods for watersheds throughout Pennsylvania. These data serve as an update to previous estimates of groundwater recharge described in Risser and others (2005). The current...

Half-meter topobathymetric elevation model and elevation-area-volume tables for Great Salt Lake, Utah, 2002-2016 Half-meter topobathymetric elevation model and elevation-area-volume tables for Great Salt Lake, Utah, 2002-2016

This topobathymetric elevation dataset of Great Salt Lake includes an assimilated topobathymetric raster comprising interpolated bathymetry from 2005 and 2006 (Baskin, 2005; Baskin, 2006) and QL1 and QL2 lidar from 2016 (Utah Geospatial Resource Center, 2016). The bathymetric dataset was originally published as contour maps. The contours were interpolated to develop a digital elevation...

Field observations of landslides and related materials following Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico Field observations of landslides and related materials following Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico

During September 2017, Hurricane Maria caused widespread landsliding throughout mountainous regions of Puerto Rico, with more than 71,000 landslides being subsequently identified from aerial imagery (Hughes et al., 2019). Most landslides apparently mobilized as debris flows and occurred within soil (unconsolidated material overlying saprolite and bedrock) and saprolite overlying less...

Piping plover nesting habitat distribution maps for the U.S. Prairie Pothole Region, 2000–2021 Piping plover nesting habitat distribution maps for the U.S. Prairie Pothole Region, 2000–2021

These maps were developed to support an effort to understand the spatial characteristics of piping plover (Charadrius melodus) nesting habitats. The maps show the expected nesting habitat distributions and piping plover intensity between 2000 and 2021 in the U.S. Prairie Pothole Region.
