The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Land carbon sink in the conterminous US from 1985 to 2020 Land carbon sink in the conterminous US from 1985 to 2020

This carbon dataset is generated from the parallel Integrated Biosphere Simulator (pIBIS). Annual carbon variables cover 1985-2020 at 1-km (990m) spatial resolution. All the variables are in NetCDF format. Each variable has 36 layers, 2960 rows, 4677 columns, and in WGS_1984_Albers projection. A single layer mask file TIF is provided. Carbon stock and flux units are in kgC/m2 and kgC/m2...

In-situ artificial light at night measurements and planktivore depth distribution in Lake Washington, WA, Summer 2024 In-situ artificial light at night measurements and planktivore depth distribution in Lake Washington, WA, Summer 2024

This dataset includes downwelling irradiance data collected at night on the water's surface and daytime attenuation through the water column. Spectrally specific irradiance values were collected with a Biospherical Instruments Compact-Optical Profiling System (C-OPS) device to measure artificial light at night (ALAN) in Lake Washington, WA. This dataset consists of ALAN surface...

Juvenile Chinook Salmon Outmigration JSATS Telemetry Tagging and Detections in the Klamath River (ver. 2.0, January 2026) Juvenile Chinook Salmon Outmigration JSATS Telemetry Tagging and Detections in the Klamath River (ver. 2.0, January 2026)

We conducted a study to assess the timing of outmigration and survival of juvenile Chinook salmon in relation to managed water flows in the Klamath River. Juvenile salmon were implanted with acoustic telemetry transmitters, and their movements were tracked using remote receivers deployed throughout the lower Klamath River, from Iron Gate Dam to the river’s mouth. Because transmitter...

PIT Tags Encountered by Klamath Falls Field Station Equipment in the Upper Klamath Basin 1993-2025 (ver. 6.0, September 2025) PIT Tags Encountered by Klamath Falls Field Station Equipment in the Upper Klamath Basin 1993-2025 (ver. 6.0, September 2025)

Note: this data release has been superseded by version 7.0, available here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P14NTJSJ Data were collected as part of a long-term capture-recapture program to assess the status and dynamics of populations of two long-lived, federally endangered catostomids in Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon and Clear Lake Reservoir, California. Lost River suckers (LRS; Deltistes luxatus)...

Paleolimnological Analysis of Cyanobacteria and Carbon in Sediment Cores from Moreau and Brant Lakes, Adirondack Region, New York, September 2022 Paleolimnological Analysis of Cyanobacteria and Carbon in Sediment Cores from Moreau and Brant Lakes, Adirondack Region, New York, September 2022

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains results of a paleolimnological analysis of cyanobacteria occurrence in Moreau and Brant Lake in the Adirondack Region of New York based on a single sediment core collected in each lake in September, 2022. The data types include 1) lake sediment core data for lead-210 age dating, 2) akinete classification and enumeration data, 3)...

Satellite Imagery Products from 2010, 2011, 2018 and Soil Data from 2021-22 on Jamestown Island, VA Satellite Imagery Products from 2010, 2011, 2018 and Soil Data from 2021-22 on Jamestown Island, VA

The U.S. Geological Survey, in partnership with the National Park Service's Colonial National Historic Park (COLO), used commercially available satellite data and soil samples from around Jamestown Island to evaluate vegetative health and soil conditions on the island to further understand the extent and severity of conditions that threaten archaeological sites and vegetation. 50 sites...
