Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Habitat and fish assemblages along four river mainstems in Ontario, Canada, 1997 to 2001, with supporting spatial data Habitat and fish assemblages along four river mainstems in Ontario, Canada, 1997 to 2001, with supporting spatial data

This dataset includes information about valley segment and catchment summaries, valley characteristics, instream habitat, and fish for valley segments, sites, and transects along four river mainstems in Ontario, Canada. Moving west to east, the rivers include the Grand River which ends in Lake Erie at Port Maitland, the Ganaraska River which ends in Lake Ontario at Port Hope, the Trent...

Soil properties and soil radioisotope activity across Breton Sound basin wetlands (2008-2013) Soil properties and soil radioisotope activity across Breton Sound basin wetlands (2008-2013)

This dataset contains vertical profiles of soil bulk density, percent organic matter, percent total carbon and cesium-137 activity from the surface down to 50-60 cm deep at 25 marsh locations across Breton Sound basin, Louisiana. These data will provide information related to rates of vertical accretion, organic and mineral accumulation and carbon burial in wetland soils across a large...

Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (SC19.WDM) for Salt Creek Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 1997, through September 30, 2019 (ver. 1.1, September 2024) Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (SC19.WDM) for Salt Creek Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 1997, through September 30, 2019 (ver. 1.1, September 2024)

The watershed data management (WDM) database SC18.WDM is updated with the processed data for the period October 1, 2018, through September 30, 2019. The precipitation data are collected from a tipping-bucket rain-gage network and the hydrologic data (stage and discharge) are collected at USGS streamflow-gaging stations in and around DuPage County, Illinois. Hourly precipitation and...

Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (WBDR19.WDM) for West Branch DuPage River Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 2007, through September 30, 2019 (ver. 1.1, November 2024) Watershed Data Management (WDM) Database (WBDR19.WDM) for West Branch DuPage River Streamflow Simulation, DuPage County, Illinois, January 1, 2007, through September 30, 2019 (ver. 1.1, November 2024)

This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) - ScienceBase data release Bera (2020b), with the processed data for the period October 1, 2018, through September 30, 2019. This data release describes the watershed data management (WDM) database file WBDR19.WDM. The WDM database file WBDR18.WDM (Bera, 2020b) is updated with the quality-assured and quality-controlled...

Survey of first-floor elevations of buildings in the Lake Champlain floodplain, Vermont, 2020 Survey of first-floor elevations of buildings in the Lake Champlain floodplain, Vermont, 2020

In August 2020, the U.S. Geologic Survey acquired high-precision survey data of first-floor doorway threshold elevations at buildings in the Lake Champlain floodplain in Vermont. For a representative sample of buildings within the 106 feet (National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929) stage boundary of the regional flood-inundation map (Flynn and Hayes, 2019), 153 buildings, or nearly 12...

Estimated quantiles of decadal flow-duration curves using selected probability distributions fit to no-flow fractions and L-moments predicted for streamgages and for pour points of level-12 hydrologic unit codes in the southeastern United States, 1950-201 Estimated quantiles of decadal flow-duration curves using selected probability distributions fit to no-flow fractions and L-moments predicted for streamgages and for pour points of level-12 hydrologic unit codes in the southeastern United States, 1950-201

Using previously published (Robinson and others, 2019) no-flow fractions and L-moments of nonzero streamflow from decadal streamflow flow-duration analysis (daily mean streamflow), probability distributions were fit to provide 27 estimated quantiles of decadal flow-duration curves, and hence the probability distributions are a form of parametric modeling that ensures monotonicity of the...
