Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Cosmogenic Nuclide Burial Isochron Data for the Central City Gravel, Malta Gravel, and Lava Creek B Ash Locations: Classic Locations of Early to Middle Pleistocene Deposits, South Platte and Arkansas Rivers, Central Colorado, USA Cosmogenic Nuclide Burial Isochron Data for the Central City Gravel, Malta Gravel, and Lava Creek B Ash Locations: Classic Locations of Early to Middle Pleistocene Deposits, South Platte and Arkansas Rivers, Central Colorado, USA

This data release includes Al-26/Be-10 cosmogenic nuclide concentrations and burial isochron ages for three locations in central Colorado, USA, with preferred burial ages ranging from ~2 Ma to 600 ka, that provide constraints on geologic mapping and chronostratigraphic correlations of Pleistocene Colorado Rocky Mountain (CRM)-Great Plains deposits. This new dataset helps to validate...

Data from Controlled Laboratory and Field Experiments of Flow Meters with Rigid Chambers to Measure Gas Fluxes from December 2023 to February 2024 Data from Controlled Laboratory and Field Experiments of Flow Meters with Rigid Chambers to Measure Gas Fluxes from December 2023 to February 2024

This dataset contains the data from laboratory and field testing of protocols to measure gas fluxes through mass flow meters attached to rigid chambers sealed to the ground. These tests demonstrate the quality of the ground seal and weather conditions around the chamber are critical for the quality of the data obtained from the technique. This measurement approach is useful for...

Data from Methane Emission Measurements and Isotope Geochemistry Samples from Orphan Oil and Gas Wells on the Kevin-Sunburst Dome in Montana, U.S.A., from April 2021 to October 2023 Data from Methane Emission Measurements and Isotope Geochemistry Samples from Orphan Oil and Gas Wells on the Kevin-Sunburst Dome in Montana, U.S.A., from April 2021 to October 2023

This dataset contains methane emissions measurements, gas compositions, and methane carbon isotope geochemistry analysis results from orphan oil and gas wells in the Kevin-Sunburst Dome in Toole County, Montana. Emissions measurements were taken between 2021 and 2023, and gas samples were collected in July, 2023.

Inter-and Intra-Annual Sediment Dynamics in Two Tidal Marshes: Deposition, Accretion, and Vegetation Data (ver. 2.0, June 2025) Inter-and Intra-Annual Sediment Dynamics in Two Tidal Marshes: Deposition, Accretion, and Vegetation Data (ver. 2.0, June 2025)

The U.S. Geological Survey, Western Ecological Research Center collected sediment and accretion data at two marshes in San Francisco Bay, California over the course of 15 months, capturing a full hydrological year and two spring-summer transitions. Sediment traps were deployed monthly in triplicate along transects of increasing distance from sediment sources (i.e., channels) to capture...

Distribution and Breeding Status of Least Bell’s Vireo along the San Luis Rey River in San Diego County, California for Select Years (1996, 1999-2001, 2003-2004 and 2007) Distribution and Breeding Status of Least Bell’s Vireo along the San Luis Rey River in San Diego County, California for Select Years (1996, 1999-2001, 2003-2004 and 2007)

The spatial data are results of USGS surveys for Least Bell's Vireo (Vireo bellii pusillus) (LBVI) along the San Luis Rey River for selected years (1996, 1999-2001, 2003-2004, 2007). Data was used to determine abundance and distribution of vireos as part of long-term demographic studies.

Lake Koocanusa Water Quality Profiles for 2019 through 2024 Lake Koocanusa Water Quality Profiles for 2019 through 2024

This data release contains water quality data from discrete sonde profiles taken at 10 sites on Lake Koocanusa from 2019 through 2024. The profiles include measurements of water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, and chlorophyll relative fluorescence as well as the depth of the sonde below the water surface. These data were collected as part of a water...
