Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Fish captures in the Cuyahoga River, OH, USA from 1984-2024 Fish captures in the Cuyahoga River, OH, USA from 1984-2024
Data include counts and locations of fish captured in the mainstem of the Cuyahoga River from 1984 through 2024. Data were collected by USGS (2022-2024) and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (1984-2021) using standardized electrofishing techniques. Data also include site variables such as physical and chemical properties as well as dam removals that occurred within the river basin...
Behavioral response of crayfish to light and the effects on trapping success, laboratory and pond trials, Missouri 2022-2023 Behavioral response of crayfish to light and the effects on trapping success, laboratory and pond trials, Missouri 2022-2023
Data were collected in association with the application of visible light in laboratory and field settings to elicit behavioral responses from the invasive virile crayfish (Faxonius virilis). Data for laboratory light trials include water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity, crayfish sex, weight and size, light lux, proportion of time spent in each zone (lit versus unlit)...
Shorthead and silver redhorse movement data from Lake Erie and the Sandusky and Cuyahoga Rivers, Ohio USA from 2022 to 2025 (ver. 2.0, March 2026) Shorthead and silver redhorse movement data from Lake Erie and the Sandusky and Cuyahoga Rivers, Ohio USA from 2022 to 2025 (ver. 2.0, March 2026)
Data include locations where shorthead redhorse (Moxostoma macrolepidotum) and silver redhorse (Moxostoma anisurum) were detected following tagging events in the Sandusky and Cuyahoga Rivers, Ohio, USA. Location data were obtained primarily through stationary acoustic receivers, with additional locations from radio towers and mobile acoustic and radio surveys in the Cuyahoga River. The...
USGS EcoDrought Streamflow and Water Temperature Data from Submersible Pressure Transducers in Massachusetts, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon USGS EcoDrought Streamflow and Water Temperature Data from Submersible Pressure Transducers in Massachusetts, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Mission Area (WMA) - Ecosystems Mission Area (EMA) EcoDrought project is comprised of interdisciplinary teams across the United States focused on the nexus between drought and ecosystem processes. To characterize streamflow conditions in EcoDrought study areas, gage height (stage) and water temperature data were collected using submersible pressure
Electro-olfactory and behavioral responses of grass carp, bighead carp, silver carp, and black carp to chemical stimuli in laboratory exposures Electro-olfactory and behavioral responses of grass carp, bighead carp, silver carp, and black carp to chemical stimuli in laboratory exposures
Using juvenile individuals of four species of carp (Family: Cyprinidae), we tested the potential for two amino acids and one commercial bait stimulus to elicit an extracellular electro-olfactory response within the naris using gelatin-based electrodes. The amino acids alanine and lysine were tested on grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella), bighead carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis), silver...
Fluvial Fish Richness Metrics for Stream Reaches of the NHDPlusV2.1 in the Conterminous United States Fluvial Fish Richness Metrics for Stream Reaches of the NHDPlusV2.1 in the Conterminous United States
This geopackage contains 18 fluvial fish species richness for ~2.3 million stream reaches from the NHDPlusV2.1 in the Conterminous United States. Metrics were developed using 415 fluvial fish species distribution models and highlight four types of summary metrics including all modeled species, migratory species, species of greatest conservation need, and fish species. Nine metrics are...
