Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Cyanotoxin Concentrations in Extracts from Solid Phase Adsorption Toxin Tracking (SPATT) and Diffusive Gradients in Thin-Films (DGT) Samplers in Owasco Lake, Seneca Lake, and Skaneateles Lake, Finger Lakes Region, New York, 2019 Cyanotoxin Concentrations in Extracts from Solid Phase Adsorption Toxin Tracking (SPATT) and Diffusive Gradients in Thin-Films (DGT) Samplers in Owasco Lake, Seneca Lake, and Skaneateles Lake, Finger Lakes Region, New York, 2019
This data release contains dissolved cyanotoxin concentrations for microcystins (MC), cylindrospermopsins (CYL), anatoxins (ATX), and saxitoxins (STX) assessed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry or tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS and LC-MS/MS, respectively) in extracts from SPATT (n=95) and DGT samplers (n=10) deployed on three...
Evaluating Seawater Intrusion Forecast Uncertainty under Climate Change in Pajaro Valley, California: Model Archive Evaluating Seawater Intrusion Forecast Uncertainty under Climate Change in Pajaro Valley, California: Model Archive
Climate change and climate variability impacts such as rising sea levels have the potential to exacerbate seawater intrusion and the strain on coastal freshwater resources in already stressed groundwater basins such as those in the Pajaro Valley groundwater basin, California. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) developed the Pajaro Valley Hydrologic model (PVHM) to quantitatively assess...
Illinois River basin seasonally dynamic total nitrogen and phosphorus SPARROW model inputs and outputs, 2000 through 2020 Illinois River basin seasonally dynamic total nitrogen and phosphorus SPARROW model inputs and outputs, 2000 through 2020
This data release contains seasonal source-specific estimates of total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) loading to streams across the Illinois River basin (25,620 reaches) for 21 years from 2000 through 2020 using a dynamic SPARROW (Spatially Referenced Regressions on Watershed attributes) model. Input data including calibration loads, output predictions, model control files, and...
MODFLOW-6 model of variable-density groundwater flow and brine discharge to the Dolores River in the Paradox Valley, Colorado MODFLOW-6 model of variable-density groundwater flow and brine discharge to the Dolores River in the Paradox Valley, Colorado
MODFLOW-6 with the Groundwater Flow (GWF) and Groundwater Transport (GWT) models was used to simulate the geohydrology of the aquifer system of the Paradox Valley in western Colorado. Salinity of the Colorado River is a major concern in both the United States and the Republic of Mexico. The Colorado River and its tributaries supply water for about 40 million people and irrigation of...
Microbial Communities Across a Successional Gradient at Indiana Dunes National Park, 2015-2017 Microbial Communities Across a Successional Gradient at Indiana Dunes National Park, 2015-2017
This soil and vegetation data were collected along a successional gradient at the Indiana Dunes National Park. Soil samples were processed for standard soil chemistry, texture, and nutrients. DNA extracted from soil samples were analyzed for bacterial communities using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing technique to understand the composition and distribution of these communities along the...
Hexane extractable material in water-based and oil-based drilling fluid wastes collected from sites in Oklahoma, North Dakota, and Wyoming in 2021 Hexane extractable material in water-based and oil-based drilling fluid wastes collected from sites in Oklahoma, North Dakota, and Wyoming in 2021
Wells drilled during oil and gas exploration use drilling fluids to cool and lubricate the drilling bit and clear the borehole of cuttings. These fluids are recycled during the drilling process, but eventually can no longer be used. This is an important waste stream from petroleum generation that requires disposal. Chemical characterization of these materials is important to determine if...
