Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

CE-QUAL-W2 theoretical dam operational scenarios for select U.S. Army Corps of Engineer reservoirs and tributaries downstream of U.S. Army Corps of Engineer dams in the Willamette River Basin, Oregon: 2011, 2015, and 2016 CE-QUAL-W2 theoretical dam operational scenarios for select U.S. Army Corps of Engineer reservoirs and tributaries downstream of U.S. Army Corps of Engineer dams in the Willamette River Basin, Oregon: 2011, 2015, and 2016
Reservoir outflows and downstream water temperatures in the Willamette River Basin, Oregon, are influenced by the operation of 13 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer (USACE) dams that comprise the Willamette Valley System (WVS). CE-QUAL-W2 models have been developed to simulate water release temperatures from a subset of WVS dams, and thermal effects to downstream reaches that may result from...
Results of weighted least-squares (WLS) regression for 42 USGS streamgages in urban areas in Alabama and Mississippi Results of weighted least-squares (WLS) regression for 42 USGS streamgages in urban areas in Alabama and Mississippi
This dataset contains results of weighted least-squares (WLS) regression for 42 streamflow gaging stations (streamgages) operated by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on urban streams in Alabama and Mississippi. WLS regression was used to relate drainage area and the percentages of the drainage basins of the streamgages in developed land use (the sum of classes 21-24 from the 2011...
Environmental DNA survey dataset for fish and amphibians in mountain lakes of Olympic National Park Environmental DNA survey dataset for fish and amphibians in mountain lakes of Olympic National Park
In the western United States, there has been a long history of planting fish into historically fishless mountain lakes for the purpose of recreational fishing. This practice can have detrimental effects to lake ecosystems, particularly amphibian populations. We compiled records of fish plantings into lakes on the Olympic Peninsula in western Washington State dating back to 1930. Our...
Geotechnical database for Anchorage, Alaska and surrounding areas Geotechnical database for Anchorage, Alaska and surrounding areas
In 2001, the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) published a database compiling geotechnical borehole and well-log records in Anchorage, Alaska (Combellick and others, 2001). This data release builds on that database, adding some additional cone penetration test (CPT) and well log records in broader areas across the state (Alaska Department of Natural Resources...
Environmental Characteristics of Fuel Breaks for Analyzing Resistance to Annual Grass Invasion Environmental Characteristics of Fuel Breaks for Analyzing Resistance to Annual Grass Invasion
Wildfire is an increasingly important driver of changes within sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) ecosystems of the western United States, often resulting in increased spread of exotic annual grasses, such as cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum), and subsequent losses of native vegetation and wildlife habitat. Fuel breaks, areas of land treated to reduce or redistribute hazardous fuels, are widely...
Bayou Decade Ridge Restoration and Marsh Creation (TE-138) 2023 land-water classification Bayou Decade Ridge Restoration and Marsh Creation (TE-138) 2023 land-water classification
The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to...
