Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Lamprey Larvae Carcasses following Exposure to 3-trifluoromethyl-4-nitrophenol (TFM) or TFM plus 1% Niclosamide Data Lamprey Larvae Carcasses following Exposure to 3-trifluoromethyl-4-nitrophenol (TFM) or TFM plus 1% Niclosamide Data

To evaluate how bigheaded carps use a restored backwater habitat, their passages into and out of and residency within a backwater was monitored using acoustic telemetry. This dataset describes the results of this study and was used to compare activity of bigheaded carps between species, at a diel scale, among seasons, and how activity related of environmental conditions. Calculation of...

Measurements of bed grain size on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona - 2000 to 2014 Measurements of bed grain size on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona - 2000 to 2014

These data were compiled to better understand sedimentation patterns on the bed of the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, and the way these patterns relate to suspended sediment grain size and concentration. These data were collected by the US Geological Survey Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center from 2000 to 2014, primarily using the "Flying Eyeball" underwater...

Modeled effects of depth and semidiurnal temperature fluctuations on predictions of year that coral reef locations reach annual severe bleaching for various global climate model projections Modeled effects of depth and semidiurnal temperature fluctuations on predictions of year that coral reef locations reach annual severe bleaching for various global climate model projections

Using global climate model projections of sea-surface temperature at coral reef sites, we modeled the effects of depth and exposure to semidiurnal temperature fluctuations to examine how these effects may alter the projected year of annual severe bleaching for coral reef sites globally. Here we present the first global maps of the effects these processes have on bleaching projections for...

National Hydrologic Model Alaska Domain parameter database, version 1 National Hydrologic Model Alaska Domain parameter database, version 1

This data release contains input data for hydrologic simulations of the Alaska Domain application of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Precipitation Runoff Modelling System (PRMS) as implemented in the National Hydrologic Model (NHM) infrastructure (Regan and others, 2018). The NHM Alaska Domain parameter database consists of 114 parameter files in ASCII format (CSV), two files needed to...

Depth-to-water data and calculated vertical hydraulic gradient at the sediment-water interface in Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon, 2017 Depth-to-water data and calculated vertical hydraulic gradient at the sediment-water interface in Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon, 2017

Ten groundwater piezometers and lake-level stilling wells were deployed in Upper Klamath Lake (UKL), Oregon during May through October 2017. Piezometers and stilling wells were deployed in pairs so that water levels could be measured relative to a common measuring point (MP) at each location. Piezometers were installed in the lakebed sediment, with screens from 3.92 to 4.92 feet below...

Data release for the Land Change Causes for the United States Interior Highlands (2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2011 time intervals) Data release for the Land Change Causes for the United States Interior Highlands (2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2011 time intervals)

These data were created to describe the causes of land cover change that occurred in the Interior Highland region of the United States for the time intervals of 2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2011. This region, which covers approximately 17.5 million hectares, includes portions of the U.S. states of Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Most of the area is covered by gently rolling hills...

Stream habitat relations of the Yellowcheek Darter (Etheostoma moorei) among four forks of the Little Red River in Arkansas Stream habitat relations of the Yellowcheek Darter (Etheostoma moorei) among four forks of the Little Red River in Arkansas

The Yellowcheek darter (YCD), Nothonotus moorei (Robison and Buchanan 2020), is endemic to the headwater tributaries (a.k.a. ‘forks’) of Little Red River system (South Fork, SF; Middle Fork, MF; Archey Fork, AF; and Beech Fork, BF) in north central Arkansas. Large portions of critical stream habitat in each stream fork were inundated in 1964 with the construction of Greers Ferry Dam, and...

Bathymetry of Morse and Geist Reservoirs in Central Indiana, 2016 Bathymetry of Morse and Geist Reservoirs in Central Indiana, 2016

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (lake bottom elevation) in a gridded XYZ format, generated from hydrographic surveys of Morse and Geist Reservoirs in April and May of 2016. Hydrographic data were collected using a multibeam echo-sounder (MBES) with integrated inertial navigation solution (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the...
