A Decade Later, the Climate Action Tool Relaunches with Regional Focus
The Northeast CASC and the University of Massachusetts Amherst have launched an expanded Climate Action Tool, providing updated science-based resources to support natural resource managers and communities across the Northeast.
Building on years of research and collaboration, a team from the Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center and the University of Massachusetts Amherst recently launched an expansion of the widely used Climate Action Tool, a web platform designed to provide credible, useful information to support natural resource management in a changing climate.
The tool serves as an online library, containing up-to-date climate change resources focused on habitats and species of the northeastern United States. Users can access information on climate impacts and vulnerability of species and habitats from a variety of key ecosystems. It also provides resources for exploring multiple adaptation actions, including decision-support guides, communication and engagement strategies, and real-world case studies.
The tool was originally developed to help Massachusetts-based decision makers, conservation practitioners, community leaders, and interested members of the public gain access to usable climate information and adaptation steps curated by scientific experts. Due to increased interest, the team worked to revitalize and expand the tool to synthesize the latest adaptation research from across the broader northeastern region.
A decade after its original launch, the tool continues to act as a valuable resource for those looking to protect ecosystems and build healthy, resilient communities.
