Application of MetaIPM to the Upper Mississippi River for Fish Passage including Graphical User Interfaces

January 26, 2026

This repository contains applications of the Metapopulation Integral PRojection Model (MetaIPM; https://doi.org/10.5066/P9427H6M), which is a Python package that uses a integral projection model (IPM) to model meta-population dynamics and continuous growth rates of species living in spatially discrete habitat units.
In this particular implementation, we use MetaIPM to model invasive silver carp and native fish populations in pools of the Upper Mississippi River, including Bigmouth Buffalo, Smallmouth Buffalo, Blue Catfish, Lake Sturgeon, Paddlefish, and Shovelnose Sturgeon.
The application supports a project to understand how fish passage projects on the Mississippi River affect native and invasive fish movement and management.
This release includes script to support the paper as well as code to run graphical user interface (GUI) applications of the model.
The release also include includes GUI applications for previous applications of the model.
