Code for enzootic survival costs could mask the potential for long-term population size suppression
This software release contains seven folders with R scripts organized
according to the objective (e.g., format the data, model fitting, etc.).
The overall objective of the project was to: examine the effects of
ophidiomycosis, an enzootic fungal disease, on a snake community in
Louisiana over a three-year period using a multi-state Jolly Seber model
that accounted for disease state misclassification. We collected the
data using active searches for snakes in a ca. 3-ha study site located
within Palmetto Island State Park (PISP) in Vermilion Parish of
southwestern Louisiana, USA. A total of 75 surveys were conducted
between 13 Aug 2015 and 17 Sep 2018. Surveys were typically conducted
two weeks apart (range = 1 – 4.85 weeks between surveys; mean = 2.18
weeks, sd = 0.65). Total search effort across all 75 surveys was 752.83
person hours (Glorioso and Waddle 2022).
