Daniel Miranda
Daniel is a Geographer with the GMEG Science Center in Austin, TX. He received B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Maryland and a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate from Austin Community College. Since joining the USGS in 2022, he has provided GIS support to geologists during all phases of geologic mapping.
Daniel started as an NAGT intern and is now a Geographer with GMEG. He provides GIS support to geologists on a number of FEDMAP geologic mapping efforts including the Lower Colorado River System (LOCOS), Western Basin and Range-Easter California Shear Zone, and GeoMapping for Integrated Sciences projects. He documents and optimizes workflows, automates tasks with Python scripting, troubleshoots GIS software issues, assists with data management, and recommends GIS tools for use in geologic mapping.
