This geomorphic map of Echo, Oregon shows the town is built on valley bottom terrain. Other landforms such as slopes, fans, bedrock, etc. are delineated in the surrounding area. From https://www.usgs.gov/maps/geomorphic-map-umatilla-river-corridor-oregon.
Ian Yuh
Ian is a geologist with the GMEG Science Center in Portland, Oregon. Ian received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Earth Sciences from the University of California San Diego. Presently, his effort focuses on geologic mapping in the Columbia River Gorge and Columbia Basin.
Ian earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Earth Sciences—geology track—from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego, where he focused on understanding the geologic history recorded by mantle xenoliths from the Simcoe Mountains Volcanic Field, Washington. Since joining the USGS in 2021, he has worked on creating geologic and geomorphic maps in the Columbia River Gorge and Columbia Basin using geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, field work, and geochemical analyses.
