John Piatt, Ph.D.

Seabirds, marine food webs and impact of climate change on marine ecosystems

Biography

I study seabird ecology in the North Pacific- including forage species consumed, impact of ocean climate change on food webs, and anthropogenic threats. Since 1996, I have overseen a total budget of $21.8M for USGS, of which 60% was derived from 52 external grants worth $12.9 million. I have been privileged to coauthor 190 peer-reviewed publications and 131 agency reports with research collaborators.
