Kim Mantey

Kim works as the Director for the USGS National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC), the operational component of the National Geospatial Program in USGS.

Kimberly (Kim) Mantey has been selected as the Director of the USGS National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC)!

Kim has a passion and drive for both the NGP and NGTOC missions.  In addition to her management and leadership skills, Kim is also an enthusiastic geospatial technologist who thrives in working closely with team members in addressing challenges and exploring new opportunities.

Kim began her federal government career as a Geographer in June 2010 serving in the NGTOC Elevation Section processing and publishing high-resolution airborne lidar, radar and derived products.  She rose to the level of the Elevation Operations Section Chief in 2019 with supervisory and technical oversight including geospatial data processing and publication of products supporting the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP). 

Kim became the NGTOC Deputy Director in July 2021, a diverse position including oversight of the Agreements and Commercial Partnerships Section responsible for implementing the USGS Geospatial Products and Services Contract (GPSC). Other responsibilities included managing continuing leadership, diversity, and supervisory education and growth opportunities for both bargaining unit employees and supervisors. 

Kim served a detail as the Acting NGTOC Director in 2022.  In her new role as NGTOC Director, Kim will provide vision, strategic direction and oversight for the Center including all administrative and operational functions with a total annual budget exceeding $158M (FY22) and ~270 Federal and Contractor employees distributed in Denver, Colorado and Rolla, Missouri.
