Matthew Richardson, PhD

Matthew is a Research Biologist with the Eastern Ecological Science Center at the Patuxent Research Refuge in Laurel, MD.

Matthew's research interests focus on the application of quantiatve and decision science techniques to aide in the development of conservation and management strategies. During his Ph.D. at the University of Florida, Matthew worked to develop monitoring and restoration frameworks for oyster reef systems within the Big Bend of Florida. While completing his Ph.D. matthew worked as a contractor for USGS, assisting in the application of decision science techniques to barrier island restoration. During his Master's degree at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Matthew focused on the nonmarket valuation of ecosystem services provided by restored wetlands within the Mississippi Alluvial Valley under the Natural Resource Conservation Service's Wetland Reserve Program-Agricultural Conservation Easement Program.
