Skylar A Smith began his career with the USGS, Illinois Water Science Center in 2014 as a student working on Groundwater NAWQA sampling.  In 2016, he began working full time as a data section streamgaging technician and worked solely in that field until January 2018 when he became the project chief for Groundwater NAWQA in Illinois. His time is split between NAWQA and stream gaging. Skylar's professional experience includes groundwater quality sampling in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri, hydroacoustic data collection, stream gaging, public outreach, EPA LAKES assessment data collection, and assisting with data collection for various Asian Carp projects.
