Distinguished Lectureship at Tohoku University

Lucy Jones was invited to give a week-long series of lectures at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan as part of a new lecture series, "Understanding and mitigating natural disasters: Lectures on the Science of Global Geohazards", supported by the national Leading School Program. All of the lecturers were non-Japanese and the lectures given in English. The audience consisted of graduate students in applied geoscience, engineering, and the social sciences who will likely choose career directions in government and the private sector in hazard mitigation rather than in science research.
