Mapping Challenge Update (08/19/21): Schools with No Edit History in Colorado

Release Date:

Volunteers have edited over 800 schools in the last two weeks - keep up the good work!

A reminder that this challenge will go through two phases. The first phase will focus on points with no edit history. Once all the points have been recently verified, we'll shift to moving the edited points through our standard editing tiers again. Alas, no need to limit yourself to each phase; i.e., if you see a green point that needs to be reviewed, feel free to do so.

Most of the schools with no edit history have either a purple or yellow border in the web app. These points are gray on the map below. We also added counties to help volunteers identify where these schools are located. (Insider's tip: the Boundaries layer in the editor also shows county boundaries...).

Another strategy is to pull up a list of all the schools by county and to search the editor for each school.

  • If a school has a point that was recently edited, make sure all of its information is correct. You don't need to save it if it was recently edited by an equal or higher role and its information is correct. However, if you notice something wrong, please update it.
  • If a school has a point that doesn't have an edit history, update its attributes to match an authoritative source for the school. Be sure to save the point, even if its information is still correct. Saving the point is what rebuilds the point's edit history and tells us that it is still correct.
  • If you come across a school that doesn't yet have a point, please add it. It's very possible that several schools are missing since Colorado has experienced rapid growth in the last few years.
