This article is part of the Fall 2020 issue of the Earth Science Matters Newsletter.

Climate Research and Development scientists will be participating in the virtual American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall 2020 meeting held from December 1-17, 2020. The scientists will be sharing their work through various posters, presentations, and panels. Topics covered fall into several broad categories:

  • Cryosphere science: changing glaciers, snow and avalanches, and permafrost
  • Impacts of change on coastal ecosystems, estuaries, and wetlands
  • Biogeochemical cycling: global carbon cycle and climate systems through time
  • Paleoclimatology: changing and variable climate from past to future
  • Soil science: above and belowground processes and connections in ecosystems

The program also had scientists participate in the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America, which was held virtually October 26-30, 2020. Climate R&D scientists presented both posters and talks that focused primarily on paleoclimate research efforts.
